Munich Through the Centuries: A Self-Guided Audio Tour

Rated 4.7 Stars, based on 11 Reviews.
Discover Munich with me, a real "Münchner Kindl”. On this self guided audio tour through the city centre, we’ll see highlights from over eight centuries of history. I’ll share some insights and introduce you to important characters from Munich’s past. I’ll also point out a few spots where you can enjoy local beer and other Bavarian delicacies.
We’ll begin our walk in the iconic Marienplatz. From there, we’ll explore the streets. There’s delicious food at the Viktualienmarkt along the way, as well as the grandeur of St Peter’s Church and other impressive sights. I look forward to helping you see Munich because as German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe put it, “you only see what you know!”
A few of the highlights from the tour:
• Why is there a pretzel in a church fresco?
• Discovering which streets were once moats
• Why is there a monkey tower in Munich?
• The story behind the devil's footprint in the Cathedral
• Where does the name Munich come from?

19th Century Photography Experience

Rated 5 Stars, based on 16 Reviews.
The studio offers a hands-on experience on wet plate collodion portraiture and its development process. In this digital era, where thousands and thousands of photographs are taken every day by simple mobiles and digital cameras, the great if not the totalities of these photos are stored and forgotten in a computer. We look for the reverse; something tangible and precious that cannot be neglected. It’s a very complex and unique process which requires the photographic material to be coated, sensitized, impressed and revealed within a period of about fifteen minutes while the plate is still wet and hence its name. Making a wet plate can be time-consuming, unpredictable, and requires a great deal of commitment and patience but the result is a unique, beautiful and lasting piece.
